Come and join with Transport Heritage NSW to experience the golden era of rail travel on this very special express service from Sydney to Goulburn and return for the 150th anniversary of the railway line to Goulburn.
Travelling from Sydney departing at about 8.00am, along the new Main South Line through East Hills to Glenfield and Campbelltown into the rolling green foothills of the Southern Highlands In a train hauled by a Heritage Diesel locomotive to Moss Vale. Here we will be met by the recently restored 102-year-old steam locomotive 3526 for the onward journey to Goulburn.
You can join the train at either Central, Revesby, Glenfield or Campbelltown.
ARHS has arranged for our own carriage for this journey, being a comfortable RFN Seating/Buffet Car.
Refreshments will be available from the Buffet through the forward and return journeys.
Upon arrival into Goulburn, you will have 2.5 hours of free time where you can either join with the town in celebrating 150 years since the opening of the railway line, or simply take a walk-through town and enjoy lunch at one of the many pubs and cafes. The 150th celebrations will include a commemorative ceremony, a tree planting and the burial of a ‘time capsule’, museum displays and the opportunity to visit the Goulburn Locomotive Roundhouse – the largest heritage based operating roundhouse in NSW.
For more information, visit the Goulburn 150th website.
The return journey will be Steam hauled to Picton where the Heritage Diesel will take over to complete the journey to Central with an expected arrival at 6.30pm.
Please Book early as this is a very limited capacity train.
