About the Author: Alan Williams is the current president of the Association of Railway Enthusiasts and the editor of the Association’s quarterly magazine the Australian Railway Enthusiast. A lifelong railway enthusiast Alan has always had a passion for steam locomotives and overseas travel. His first overseas trip was to South Africa in the late 1970s and he has since travelled to many exotic countries in search of steam.
