Welcome to the 2nd opus of our Youth Focus Committee sponsored ARHSnsw Talk series.
This time, our guest is Howard Collins, legendary CEO of Sydney Trains and former Chief Operating Officer of the London Underground. In 2013, Howard was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of his success as the Lead Director for the London Underground and London Rail for the 2012 Olympic Games and for services to Public Transport.Howard is a board member of Transport Heritage NSW, the Australasian Railway Association, Passenger Transport Group, and TrackSAFE. In March 2017, Howard was appointed as Acting Chief Executive, NSW TrainLink, responsible for intercity and regional train and coach services.
Since Howard’s appointment as Chief Executive of Sydney Trains in 2013, the network has seen major patronage growth, record breaking customer satisfaction rates, a reduction in peak incidents and safety performance now better than most bench-marked operators in Australia.
A 35 years career, so much to talk about!
Howard is a keen media spokesperson for a wide range of transport issues and a keynote speaker at many national and international events.
Last year, the ARHSnsw decided to introduce into the Society a Youth Committee. The Youth Committee currently consists of 7 members who meet every 2 months. Starting with Scott McGregor’s Q&A last December, the active group decided to introduce ARHSnsw Talk Series, having guest speakers come in for an open interactive discussion and short presentations.
