Come to Maitland to spend a morning at Steamfest and travelling to Saxonvale Loop Line
Line and return in The Rail Motor Society’s 621/721. Join our coach at Maitland to begin our tour with our noted
historian, Ed Tonks to see the changing scene along the line to Cessnock, viewing the many abandoned sites and
where the associated branch lines and sidings were once prominent. Learn of the Pubs and their architects, owners
and licencees. Here also of the local involvement in the Great War and their monuments. Ed will be telling us of the
many associated features that made up the lifestyle and activities at that time. Have lunch at a coalfields Hotel and
spend the night in old style overnight accommodation (no en suites) at the Heritage Neath Hotel. Enjoy a 3 Course
Dinner Saturday night and full Breakfast on Sunday morning. Continue our historic journey through the coalfields
to the Richmond Vale Railway Museum for lunch, view exhibits, take a train ride on the recently restored section
of their line following the disastrous bush fire in 2017.
On Saturday, travel on the 6.16am Intercity Service from Sydney due to arrive at Broadmeadow at 8.46 am to join
our special run in 621/721 to Maitland before our run along the South Maitland Railway to Cessnock.
