Friday to Tuesday 10-14th June 2022

Come and join the ARHS NSW Division and The Rail Motor Society for a new adventure to explore the Main South Line to Cootamundra, Wagga Wagga and venture a short distance on the former Rand Line at Henty to the Henty West wheat silos. Travel by Road Coach following the former railway branch lines to the destinations of Tumbarumba, Tumut and Batlow. Returning via the cross country line to the West via Stockinbingal, Forbes, and Parkes to Orange and the Main Western Line to Central for our annual Queens Birthday Weekend Tour.

Friday 10h June.  Our heritage 621/721 Rail Cars will have an early departure from Paterson picking up passengers at Maitland, Broadmeadow and Gosford before arriving at Concord West for Sydney travellers at about 9.00am. Due to current curfew restrictions in place over the Sydney train area it is not practical to commence our journey at a reasonable time from Central Station.

A welcome Devonshire Morning Tea will be served as we pass through Sydney’s southern suburbs, avoiding the regular rail services by travelling via the freight line to its junction with the main south beyond MacArthur. Enjoy the scenery into the Southern Highlands as we pass Picton, Mittagong, Bowral and on to Moss Vale for a leg stretch on the platform. Continue through to Goulburn for a lunch break. Rejoin the train for the continuing journey to our destination, Cootamundra for a three night stay. Transfer to our accommodation at the Cootamundra Heritage Motel and the Bradman Motor Inn. All meals will be at the Cootamundra Country Club.

Saturday 11th June. After a hearty country breakfast we will be joining our coach to travel to Cootamundra Station to climb aboard our train for a run to Henty where we will branch onto the former Rand line travelling the short distance to Henty West where the currently operating wheat silo siding is located. Our on board historian Nev Pollard, will be providing us with his knowledge of the workings of the wheat in the area.

We return to Wagga Wagga where we will join our Road Coach for the run to Tumbarumba for a look around the area and lunch. On the return trip we will travel and view what is left of the branch line before rejoining our train for the run back to Cootamundra for our second nights stay.

Sunday 12h June. Join our coach again after breakfast spending a day on a journey following the 95 km closed railway line to the junction at Gilmore and on to Tumut for lunch. We will then continue on to the town of the BIG APPLE, Batlow.  We will check out the station locations along the line where possible.  Take a stroll around the town before for returning to Cootamundra for our third night dinner and stay.

Monday 13th June. After breakfast, transfer on our coach to Cootamundra Station to re-join our train for a morning run over the cross country line via Stockinbingal to Forbes for lunch. Continue through Parkes, Manildra, Molong and the West Fork of the triangle to Orange Station where a coach will transfer us to our overnight stay at the Central Caleula Motel located at the western end of the Orange CBD.

Pre dinner drinks and our evening meal will be in the adjacent Zona Restaurant.

Tuesday 14th June. Following breakfast, again at the Zona Restaurant, we will join our coach for a Mount Canobolis and Orange Town Tour before returning to our train at Orange Railway Station for our homeward bound journey. Following the main western line through Blayney to Bathurst where we will have lunch at the Victoria Hotel located opposite the Station. Leaving Bathurst we continue our journey eastward to Lithgow and a run down the Blue Mountains to terminate at Sydney Central Station. The train will then return to Broadmeadow and Paterson.
