ARHS Fundraising Appeal

Thank you

Much has been achieved in the last few years. We now have a state-of-the art facility which is clean and comfortable with space and amenities for staff and volunteers. We have space for our bookshop, cafe, archives and reading room. We have successfully secured grants for recognition and preservation of the archives collection.

These achievements build on the achievements of past years, and the generosity and commitment of our members and volunteers. Our reputation and collection are second-to-none and we extend our thanks to all who have been involved.

With the opening of the Sydney Metro through to Sydenham in 2024 and our proximity to Waterloo station, it is likely that our neighbourhood will change and develop. We would like to stay in the current building for as long as possible, but it has already appreciated in value since the purchase in 2018. The building and its eye-catching mural is well known in the area and reflects our commitment to railway history, demonstrating to visitors the transformative effect railways have had on the development of Australia and the important role they continue to play.

We need your support!

As stewards of railway history, we face an urgent financial challenge. Our bank loan, which funded the renovation and move into Henderson Rd, along with supporting us through the pandemic, is placing increased pressure on our Society due to the increase in interest rates. We are working hard to develop new revenue streams and grow membership, but the full effect of these initiatives will take some time.

We’re currently paying interest-only, but our goal is clear: We aim to raise $50,000 by the end of 2023 to start chipping away at the loan’s principal.

You can Donate Here or call the office on (02) 9699 4595 and contribute with your credit card or bank transfer. All donations are tax deductible.

We thank all our past and current members for their generosity to date, and now ask for you to continue your support and help us to thrive and safeguard our future.
