The XPTs are in their twilight years, as are the much-loved V-sets and so we are taking the opportunity to use these trains for part of our journey.

With our specially-chartered cars building up the consist, the regular XPT service will depart Sydney Central Station at 7.19am picking-up passengers at Strathfield, Parramatta, Blacktown and Penrith. With morning tea on the way, scheduled arrival
into Bathurst is 10.56am.

There is time in Bathurst to visit the excellent Bathurst Railway Museum, a short walk from the station. Entry is included.
A sumptuous boxed-lunch from local Bathurst providers is optional. You may wish to dine at one of the other excellent establishments within walking distance of Bathurst station.

A special 44-Class diesel-hauled heritage train, provided by Lachlan Valley Railway, will depart Bathurst at 2.00pm. Travel will be in non-airconditioned cars that provided country train services for so many years on the NSWGR system.

At Lithgow, we change trains to join the regular 3.48pm double-deck V-Set service, with our special 4-car set attached, to Sydney Central. Timetabled arrival is at 6.41pm. Our train will set down at its regular stops on the journey from Lithgow. Use your Opal Card for this sector of your trip.
