As quite a few of Adelaide’s earlier buildings have now been demolished and the city skyline is nothing like what it was 50+ years ago, this book – the first in a series of four publications – is a brief snapshot into the sights and scenes around the city from 1955 until 1980. This was before the period of great change and modernisation but is still within living memory. The first two books are confined to the city square and the River Torrens area but the third and fourth include suburban scenes as well. In this book we concentrate on the Torrens Lake, North Terrace and Rundle Street areas.
