Description

This series of photo essays features the history of some of Australia’s iconic trains in an easy-to-read A5 format. Featuring colour and black and white photos, the series tells the story of a bygone era of train travel in this country.

This is a 64-page booklet featuring many previously unpublished photographs.

Entering services during the early 1940s, the Central West Express was one of several express passenger trains that were introduced to provide an improved level of service to major regional cities and towns throughout New South Wales. For just over 40 years, the Central West Express served the cities of Bathurst and Orange, and either directly or by a connecting train, the cities of Dubbo, Parkes and Forbes. This volume of Australian Trains relates the history of the Central West Express and its importance to the central western regions of the state.
