The Railway Archives is managed by The Australian Railway Historical Society.
The Railway Archives is at the heart of what the Society is all about. Staffed by volunteers, the Archives is a treasure of original railway documents, engineering drawings, photographs, film, sound recordings, manuals, timetables and reports as well as a vast amount of material written about so many aspects of railways in Australia since the Society began in 1933.
The Railway Archives is now part of our spectacular new premises at 5-7 Henderson Road, Alexandria. We are not open to public visitors for the time being; but please call or e-mail if you would to make a research enquiry. Many enquiries can be addressed by e-mail or telephone.
Access to The Railway Archives is free for members; a $20 charge applies to non-members.
We now have a dedicated site where a large proportion of the material most useful to researchers, historians, modellers and enthusiasts will be available online, for the first time, at moderate cost. Please see the link below to access the site. Members have free access.
