Description
London Marylebone to Birmingham Moor Street
A Driver’s Eye View
This DVD showcases a diesel loco-hauled express journey with a Class 68 locomotive pulling refurbished Mk 111 carriages, known as ‘Silver Trains’ by Chiltern Railways.
Starting at London’s Marylebone Station on the 10:10 service to Birmingham Moor Street, the video contrasts the current scene with changes over the past 30 years, including new signalling, privatisation, and the Evergreen initiative. Chiltern Railways has significantly expanded its services on the Chiltern main line.
The journey takes us past the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines, Wembley Stadium, and onto the former Great Central/Great Western Joint line. We travel through High Wycombe and the Chiltern Hills, following the route of historic GWR steam expresses. We then join the former GWR main line from Oxford, passing through Leamington Spa, Warwick, and Solihull before reaching Birmingham Moor Street, which has been beautifully restored to evoke the 1930s steam era.
