Description
London St Pancras to Sheffield
This DVD offers a driver’s eye view from a High Speed Train on this iconic route.
Filmed just before St Pancras Station’s major redevelopment for Eurostar in 2007, this video captures the station in its pre-renovation state, including the famous gasometers that have since been removed.
The journey covers the first 50 miles of the Midland Main Line under Thameslink wires, passing through stations such as Elstree, St Albans, and Luton. The route then tackles the challenging summits of Sharnbrook, Desborough, and Kibworth, known for their steep gradients in steam days. The train reaches Leicester, covering 100 miles before stopping.
The scene shifts as we head north from Derby through the picturesque Peak District, with stops at Chesterfield and Sheffield.
The video features numerous trackside shots with the train speeding past and immersive stereo sound.
