This DVD takes you on a fascinating journey aboard Queensland Rail’s ‘Spirit of the Outback’ from Brisbane to Longreach, showcasing both passenger and freight operations along the way. The trip covers historic tracks: from Brisbane to Rockhampton, and Rockhampton to Longreach. Though the extension to Winton in the 1920s isn’t included, the presentation offers a complete ride from Brisbane’s Roma St station to Longreach. It also features scenes from the return trip to Brisbane by car, highlighting coal and freight traffic. You’ll see locomotives such as QR’s 1720, 2300, 2400, 2470, and 4000 class diesel electrics, as well as 3500, 3600, and 3800 class electrics, along with suburban and intercity electric passenger trains.
