Description
India’s Nilgiri railway climbs from the plains at Mettupa-layam to the hill station of Udagamandalam (Ooty) at 2240m, and still uses steam locomotives, some built as recently as 2014! This is no ordinary railway; it uses the Abt rack system to climb grades as steep as 1:12, and passes through spectacular forest and mountain scenery. It gained UNESCO world heritage staus in 2005. This DVD provides a comprehensive guide to the line, with a good selection of locos, both coal and oil fired, in action.
