In 1982, Union Pacific acquired the Western Pacific system, including the famous Feather River Canyon route, and immediately began upgrades to handle growing traffic. Fast forward to 1991 and watch as Union Pacific’s double-stack and intermodal trains tackle the Canyon’s rugged terrain. Experience unit grain, steel, and other trains pulled by powerful Dash 8-40CW’s, Dash 8-40C’s, and SD40-2s, winding past towering cliffs and famous landmarks like Keddie Wye, Williams Loop, and Clio Trestle.
